Pulling pages out vs. exploding a whole file
Split has two distinct modes: pull a specific page range out as one file, or explode every page of the source PDF into its own separate file, downloaded together as a .zip. Both run through the same page-extraction path in pdf-lib — nothing is rasterized, so extracted pages keep their original text, fonts, and vector content byte-for-byte.
If the PDF you're splitting has a fillable form, be aware that pulling pages out of the middle of a form can orphan fields that reference each other across pages — here's why the fields may stop being fillable afterward, and what to do about it. And a several-hundred-page source file will take longer to explode into individual files than most people expect, since there's no server queue doing that work in the background — see why large files can stall a tab if that happens to you.
